EAVI – the European Association for Viewers Interests – is an international non-profit organisation based in Brussels, dedicated to advocating for media literacy and full citizenship. As a leading expert in media literacy research and policy at the European level, EAVI empowers citizens to critically engage with media, fostering a healthier, more democratic, and cohesive society.

Founded in 2005 with the support of the European Commission, EAVI has been a pioneering force in the field of media literacy. Over the years, we have:
We achieved a lot. Today, we have 61 member partner organisations across 25 countries.
Conducted the most comprehensive EU-wide research on media literacy, covering 27 countries and 20 languages, shaping European policies in the field.
Participated in and coordinated numerous EU-funded projects under Erasmus+, Horizon Europe, and CERV, collaborating with leading universities, research centers, and civil society organisations.
Played a key role in major EU forums and networks, including the Council of Europe’s Steering Committee on Media and Information Society, the European Commission’s Media Literacy Expert Group, and the UNESCO MIL Alliance.
Organised international conferences, debates, and events at prestigious venues such as the European Parliament, the Italian Parliament, and the Spanish Senate House.

Led the launch and coordination of Voices, the first-ever European Festival of Journalism and Media Literacy, bringing together 1,300+ participants in its inaugural 2024 edition in Florence and expanding to Zagreb for its 2025 edition.
