About this Campaign
EAVI’s ‘Building Trust’ online campaign is a clarification surrounding the effect of negative reporting that can occur by presenting a distorted and often negative image of migrants by the media and social media platforms. It is then important to understand the extent of the damage this can have on European society, politically and socially. EAVI intends to build up on the previously established MyStory activities to further raise awareness and compliment the ‘Building Trust’ campaign.
The formation of stereotypes and negative feelings towards migration in Europe has intensified with the widespread use of online and social media. As such, this campaign intends to counter these wide-spread stereotypes by educating the public and highlighting the techniques used that can easily change the context of situations and news reporting. Thus, we aim to instigate and conduct an online campaign to combat racism, xenophobia, and hate speech.
