Recently, the International Journal of Education (CIEPS-Alliance Sorbonne Université) published a dossier on the great figures who have had a profound influence on education at all times and on all continents.

Under the coordination of Professor Jean-Marie De Ketelle, from the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, studies on the work of Confuncius, Piaget, Maria Montessori, Grundtvig, Lev Vygotsky, John Dewey, Freud, Plato, Averroes (Avicenna), Ibn Khaldün, Rousseau, Condorcet, and Ferry were published. One chapter of the collection was dedicated to Paulo Freire with the title, in the original, “Paulo Freire: au délà de l’alphabétisation des adultes, l’émancipation”. Its authors were the retired professors from UnB, Venício Arthur de Lima and Marco Antonio Rodrigues Dias.

An Italian publisher has published this collection as a book under the title Figure dell’educazione nel mondo (Editrice Morcellianas”).  It is a useful document for the current analysis of the work of the Brazilian thinker and educator whose centenary was recently celebrated.
