Project Description
From July 27 to August 7, EAVI’s Secretary General Paolo Celot joined the tenth International Youth Media Summit (IYMS) in Belgrade, Serbia.
The IYMS is a truly global movement for professionals who are working on youth empowerment through media, education, ICT and social networks. The summit brings youngsters from all over the world into contact, not only with each other, but more pertinently also with expert organizations, like EAVI, working in the fields of youth and media.
The main focus of this IYMS lied on the development of intercultural, innovative and interactive educational technologies as well as on media and information literacy. The organization promotes media education as the best tool for development in a sustainable society. Paolo from his side stressed the importance of media literacy and a heightened awareness of the opportunities in the digital world as drivers for the future and ongoing personal development of youth, as well as for their empowerment on social, political and economic issues. He also presented EAVI’s innovative educational cartoon: “a Journey to Media Literacy”, which received a very warm applause from all participants.
