Media Literacy and Education in Europe – At the founding conference of the European Association

To improve entire television systems and defend viewers’ interests citizens need expand their competences and capacities. They have to acquire:
a) critical awareness towards television messages;
b) and the development of capacities for using and accessing the media.

Specifically, these are the objectives of Media Education. There is an obvious need to unite viewer’s interests and Media Education in a way that both of them can create a concentrated space for mutual collaboration. The aim of this session is to identify the initiatives that are already being carried out in these areas in European countries, and how these already existing initiatives can be related and connected to each other now, and in the future?
