EYAG – Eavi Youth Advisory Group

Young people speak for themselves!

EAVI believes in the innovation and creativity that youth have to offer and has noticed that young people often do not have a voice in public debates and research activities. More experienced and established adults tend to be in the position to speak for them in conferences and hearings – “Young people think that, young people want this”. However, this approach neglects those who also have vital experience on youth and media issues, the youth themselves. When dealing with a topic such as media, in which young people are the main users of the new media technologies, it is particularly relevant that the voices of young people are heard and taken into account at policy level.

That is why EAVI has set up the EAVI Youth Advisory Group, a formal body integrated in the structure of EAVI. EYAG is an opportunity to collaborate and participate sharing new ideas, information and experience related to media, active citizenship, education, new technologies and civil society organizations. When complete, the group will consist of 27 representatives, one per EU Member State, aged between 21 and 30.

EYAG is for young people interested in the field of media, active citizenship and EU affairs who wish to get actively involved in the work of a non-profit organisation, provide recommendations for EU level projects and initiatives, and make a real difference to media issues in the EU.
