This panel was concerned with the role of international institutions in the promotion of digital and media literacy, and its promotion through different strategies as one of the key factors of democratic development and the enhancement of an information society. The institutions are necessarily leaders in this area, promoting studies, alliances, initiatives and launching awareness and diffusion campaigns. All consider media literacy essential in fully developing the rights of citizens and provide a solid base for active citizen participation according to policies of the European Commission.
